If you are looking for a Chinese Restaurant to hold your wedding banquet, you can consider Chuai Banquet Hall (Off Jalan Imbi) for a bigger function or the Chuai Heng bungalow located at the strategic and also busy Jalan Bukit Bintang. Serving fine Hong Kong styled Chinese cuisine, your guests will get to enjoy a delicious banquet meal on your big day. The new Banquet Hall, designed by CGSB Interiors has a modern cosiness to it with stylish lighting and decor. It can accommodate up to 80 tables. The wedding menu is not exactly cheap starting from RM938nett per table. There are many dishes to choose from though.

It is quite high class restaurant. Chuai Heng is super packed on weekends as it is situated in the congested Bukit Bintang. service was good but all are foreigner workers.

Photography at Marina Bay Singapore

Singapore's Marina Bay is a popular choice of location for pre-wedding photography. The Waterfront Promenade forms part of the 11.7km waterfront route around Marina Reservoir, linking Gardens by the Bay, Marina Barrage and the new Sports Hub. You can also photograph along the lower-level timber boardwalk, right down to the water's edge. Everything is very well connected.

Design guidelines for Marina Bay have required a variety of development intensities and building heights for the area, especially along the waterfront where developments are being kept low. This safeguards views to and from individual buildings, enhances their attractiveness and creates a pleasant and aesthetic skyline for the district.

Tower locations in Marina Bay are also orchestrated to create space and breathtaking vistas towards the waterfront and major open spaces. By night, the skyline will glow and sparkle with beautifully-lit building crowns and facades to create memorable night scenes.

Further along, Marina Boulevard is a tropical walk with flowering shrubs and shade trees. Here, you can pause at a Breeze Shelter from where you can capture the view from a cool and breezy rest point. At night, the promenade is lit with attractive night lighting.

At the other end, there is The Helix pedestrian bridge from Bayfront to Marina Centre. The double-helix structure resembles the structure of DNA, the basic building block of life, symbolising 'life and continuity', 'renewal', 'everlasting abundance' and 'growth', very auspicious for the happy wedding occasion.

Next to The Helix, Singapore's first art park, the Youth Olympic Park which comes alive with coloured LED (Light-Emitting Diode) lights at night, accentuating the various contemporary structures and installations against the lighted Singapore city skyline, making this park a visual treat for photography.

Hindu Wedding Checklist and Traditional Wedding Process

Many different wedding rituals and traditions are practiced in India. In Malaysia, the Hindus carry out the wedding ceremony according to their respective subcontinent in India. However some of these cultures have overlapped through time.

Usually the priest would officiate the Hindu wedding ceremony. He holds a curtain between the bride and the groom and chants songs. The guests shower rice and other grains over the couple to bless them with a prosperous married life. As rice is thought to ward off demons, it is poured into the wedding fire. After the curtain is removed the bride's father would give her to the groom. He takes his daughter’s hand and places it on the groom’s. The bride applies sandalwood paste to the grooms forehead, the groom then applies a red mark on the bride's forehead.

As a sign on union, the groom takes the bride’s hand – often this occurs in the presence of fire, the flame is a sign of a new household. The two exchange vows during this ritual, sometimes referred to as the Seven Step ritual. Sometimes the vows are read as the bride and groom walk around a fire with pieces of each other’s clothing tied together or the groom holding his bride's hand.

The groom places a floral garland around his bride's neck... this represents love. Finally the tying of the Thali necklace which signifies the inseparable union of the married couple. The Thali (also known as Mangala sutram) is a sacred necklace the Hindu groom ties around the bride’s neck, often bought by the groom’s family and the custom originated from the South of India.

Hindu Wedding Ceremony Checklist
  • Set the date and Book the Venue - temple, resort, hotel, hall, etc. What does the venue provide?
  • Book your marriage officiant (priest)
  • Verify wedding ceremony details and the items to bring - Pooja thali, flowers, rice, grains, sweets, fruits, coconut, etc.
  • Hire Decorator, planner - Kolam, statue, mandap, flowers, theme, funiture overlay/ Sashes
  • Discuss about the process
Kolam is a form of auspicious painting that is drawn by using colorful rice, fresh flowers or polystyrene. Wedding kolam is elaborate and befitting for an auspicious occasion. Usually done at the doorsteps, courtyards, pooja/ prayer room for Hindus, Kolam together with the classical Indian entrance art work can be a visual treat for incoming wedding guests. Mandap is a temporary porch or platform setup for a wedding ceremony which is part of the decoration.

  • Inform your family and bridal team (bride's maids, coordinators...). Send out invitations.
  • Hire Photographer and Videographer - Brief them about the particular photos or scenes you want to be captured
  • Reserve Makeup and Mehndi artist, hair stylist
  • Provide your service vendors a detailed timeline for the process

  • Rent or buy wedding garments- saree/lehengha, shawl, shoes (for the bride)

  • Pick the accessories/ jewellery color and type that complements your wedding gown
  • Headpieces, Necklace, Earrings, brooches, armlets, bangles, hip chain / saree belts, anklets, rings

For the groom, get matching sherwani, dhoti. Dhoti (also known as veshti, pancha, mardani) is a traditional Indian men garment. It is a piece of cloth wrapped around the waist. Sherwani suits which more formal is a long coat-like garment with high neckline. Purchase Chappal (sandals)/ shoes, accessories such as headdress, brooches, studs, shawl.

Christian Louboutin Shoes

Many brides who go for designer heels for their wedding, pick Christian Louboutin (CL). What is so special about those red-soled shoes? Ladies love them. Since 1992 Louboutin has painted the soles of his shoes red - the color is flirtatious, and sensual. The shoes have an amazing selection of classics and naturals, along with the most creative eccentric pieces of foot-art you've ever seen. More and more celebrities are spotted wearing them. I think it's only right to pronounce the Parisian brand in French. 



The shoes are the classic, iconic form of luxury. Women do not buy CLs for comfort, they are the LEAST comfortable shoes you could buy. So wear them around the house so they are properly broken in before the big day. Generally, CL shoes with a slight platform (like the Very Prive) will be more comfortable than those with a flat-bottom. For wider feet (or have bunions), the Clichy and Declic are two of the safer bets as their cut is slightly wider. You can buy them online, or from one of the stores in various cities around the world, the nearest store is located in Singapore.

Before buying my shoes I did a lot of research on most comfortable designer shoes. Louboutins came up on every list as the LEAST comfortable shoes you could buy... So beware. But, Jimmy Choo's topped every list I saw and they also have some great styles. Cole Haan also was high on the comfort list.

As a shoe person, I totally splurged on my shoes. I bought a similar pair of Jimmy Choos. I love them and they are sooo comfy. I wear them around my house almost daily so they are properly broken in before the  big day. Then, after the wedding, I can wear them whenever I want. :) I did try on a bunch of CLs and they were horribly uncomfortable even just walking around the store. The sales lady actually looked at me like I was nuts when I said the JCs were more comfy. She flat out said "women do not buy CLs for comfort." Her attitude was priceless and I couldn't help but laugh. So, if you do get them without trying them on, buy them from a department store with a good return policy.
As for whether splurging is worth it. Think realistically about your budget and whether it'll break the bank. We are talking $500 shoes, not chump change. Could that money be spent better elsewhere? Can you afford everything else you find more important if you get them? Will you wear them again or be upset if you don't?

If you're going to get a pair of Designer Heels, Christian Louboutins are the ones to grab. They are the classic, iconic form of luxury, and in-mistakable. The shoes have an amazing selection of classics and naturals, along with the most creative eccentric pieces of foot-art you've ever seen. Be aware that Louboutins run narrow, so its a good idea to size up. Also keep in mind that it depends heavily on the arch and form of your foot. I have bunions, and a very high (collapsed) arch. Since my foot is wide and high, I generally need arch support, and a good shoe stretching combined with a larger size (41-42 EURO here). Take a look at your foot in relation to the shoe, and see what adjustments you may need to make. Mr  Louboutin even admitted his designers at or over 160mm are menat to be short-worn, not for walking, moreover special events. Generally, CL shoes with a slight platform (like the Very Prive and Vee) Will be more comfortable than those with a flat-bottom. In addition, if you have a large foot, a sandal or peep toe will be easier to bear than a tighter, closed toe style. Also, wedges have more surface area to stand on, which is easier, and less cumbersome than walking on a stiletto heel. For wider feet, the Clichy and Declic are two of the safer bets. The cut is slightly wider, and in combination with a 1/2 size up its more bearable.


Depending on your foot type, bear in mind the adjustments you are going to make when choosing the right shoes

It can be divided into 3 smaller ballrooms. Opened in 2012 the convention centre is new, clean with no foul carpet odor! Your guests will be delighted with the special lighting effects created by the hall's LED lights. 

    Brides are totally in love with their lush gazebo and outdoor landscape which makes a perfect garden themed wedding. You can use the gazebo for free if you take the wedding package. The venue is easily accessible by NKVE and not as jammed as KL/PJ areas during the weekends. There is ample parking space so your guests don't have to worry. Parking fee is RM3 per entry.

    JW and I went surveying some of the short-listed venues until we found the one fit for our wedding: Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). We chose this among the few others because:
    1. The wedding package offered was within our budget
    2. The convention hall could cater to the size of my guest list (minimum number of tables: 30; can cater up to 200 tables, for banquet seating arrangement)
    3. I am totally in love with the lush gazebo & outdoor landscape (fits my garden wedding theme)
    4. Ample parking
    5. Easily accessible by NKVE and not as jammed as KL/PJ areas during the weekends
    6. New, clean with no foul carpet odour

    Churches (non Catholic) usually conduct the registration of marriage for their members only and there are conditions to follow. So do check with your respective church. As I know Catholic churches are not assistant registrars, hence you are required to have the ROM in an NRD branch'es registrar office, then hold the wedding ceremony in the church.

    Tropicana Golf and Country Resort It Is

    After months of research I have shortlisted a few wedding locations namely Oriental Banquet PJ, Spring Garden Tropicana Golf Resort, and Mines Wellness Hotel. My FH (Wedding Acronym) and we have a fair number of Muslim friends to invite, hence we prefer a pork-free/ halal restaurant where Chinese food is served. Western food is not an option as our families are rather traditional and also it's natural to have a wedding in accordance with our tradition.

    There goes visits to the restaurants, ordering a pot of my favorite tea "Char Wong", tasting their food and surveying the environment. My FH is not particular about the location. I on the other hand choose ambiance over food. Oriental Banquet at Section 19 in PJ has a fantabulous grand hall. I also like the fact that its stage is exceptionally high and big with a rather wide screen projection. Its food is delicious with above average service quality. The only unfavorable aspect for me would be the non-halal food part.

    I live 5 minutes from the Mines and I must say we were not aware of the Mines Wellness Hotel until recently. It's a 4 star serene resort with plenty of luscious plants, pretty landscaping, a breath-taking view of a private sand-bedded swimming lagoon and a 150 acre lake. Its ballroom is not really attractive and smells un-used. The only option is to have a garden wedding which calls for extra arrangements for bad weather, cooling system, mozzies and so on.

    For some reason I'm attracted to scenic view and lush greeneries, determined to hold the wedding at a venue with surrounding of the kind, we have decided on Tropicana Golf and Country Resort. This wedding venue is highly recommended by BTBs. They commented that all her guests remembered how good the food was instead of how pretty she looked on the wedding reception.

    The service rendered has been excellent, stage is big and tall with impressive lighting. There is a projector screen by the side of the ballroom, guests are able to have a better glimpse of the slideshows. There are also several other LCD monitors spread across the hall, one outside the ballroom at the reception area. The ballroom is fantastic. I have been communicating with PIC, Diana (Spring Garden restaurant). She has been nothing less than efficient. If in doubt of my queries, she would check and get back to me on the same day.

    There are no corkage charges for alcoholic beverages such as hard liquor and wine, charge for beer is RM100. We wanted to change the shark fin soup to another dish (to help save the poor sharks) but the manager told us they are made of artificial shark fin. Puzzled. It has a pork-free kitchen. If you are interested, be quick. You have to book this venue well ahead as it is a very popular place to hold weddings.

    I have attended a wedding dinner at Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant @ Tropicana earlier this year. Venue & deco is nice, but food is so-so. Need to improve on the service as well. The wait staff seems to be in a rush to clear plates!

    I visited tropicana tai thong few months ago to attend a wedding dinner and I found the ball room is grand and nice, high ceiling, good ambiance. The food is not bad too and the service is okay. I will recommend this place if you are looking for nice venue.

    I dealt with Diana. She is very prompt. If she needs to confirm something, she would check and get back to me (on the same day). She also called me to confirm the little detail, is helpful, and willing to add more complimentary invitation cards when requested. Food and service were good. My aunt commented that the food was the best among my other sisters’ weddings. I have 3 sisters and all of them married. Diana was kind enough to help us conduct our tea ceremony for my husband’s family. I got more than what I paid for.

    The resort provides their PA system, any additional sound equipment, instruments brought in will be charged RM350. Rehearsal of the sound system, lighting, running through the schedule and DVDs/ songs to be played on wedding day with the technical personnel from Tropicana Resort, is arranged approximately 1 week before actual date. The use of the ballroom moving heads (intelligent lights) costs RM200. They provide about 20+ baby chairs. You can still finalize the total number of guests two days before AD.

          I had my wedding in Oct, and worked with many different people and suppliers. I can't say that I had a smooth and pleasant experience with each and every one of them, and I'm also not the type to post up reviews (I'm generally lazy...haha). However, I think Gene Lim deserves a good review from me even though she has plenty of great reviews already. If there's one decision I don't regret about my wedding, it's hiring her as my MUA. She is professional, pleasant, punctual, and extremely talented and detailed. Her makeup is natural and brings out the best features in you. My hair is also short and flat without volume, and she managed to create a style that suited me. She also did makeup for my mother , my maid of honour, my mother in law and sis in law, all of which loved her style and cannot stop complimenting her. She is also not calculative (I told her that I have really bad eyebags and she gave me an additional bottle of ampoule to apply the night before without charging me). I would HIGHLY recommend her, but you'll need to book her in advance (I booked her about 11 months ahead of my wedding). :)

          I hired Gene Lim last year for my bridal make up. She is a consumate professional, very punctual & friendly. And her skills are amazing! Transforming you to look your best while still having a natural style. The only potential downside is she is so in demand, she is often not available if you book her too late. I booked her 1 1/2 years before my wedding just to ensure I get her as my MUA.

Eugene took the time to meet us personally and ran through our wedding program several times before hand and provided us with good recommendations based on his experience. The crew arrived early on the wedding day to perform setup and sound test and took extra effort to rehearse with our guest performers to ensure everything run smoothly. We did not have the time to filter their song list but we are very impressed with their song selection that night which matched the ambience and kept the crowd well entertained.           2. Privacy (sharing entrance with walk-in guests or more than one weddings in the same hall)
          3. Obstructive pillars
          4. Wedding package/ price
          5. Other charges (corkage, PA system, projectors + screen/LCD, air cooler rental, etc)
          6. Freebies/ benefits (dummy cake, champagne+glasses, invitation cards, food testing)
          7. Other facilities: changing room, restroom, reception foyer
          8. Sound system quality
          9. Food quality, portion, presentation (Most hotels serve halal food)

          12. Location (Distance from KL, traffic condition, easy to locate)

                      Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A specific style may be appealing to someone but not to another.  So it is important to identify what you like. Here are some tips on how to prepare for your bridal makeup.
                      • Know the colors and style that you want. Get inspirations from magazines. Be realistic, choose something that suits your skin color and features. 
                      • Give the Makeup Artist (MUA) a call to strike a conversation. Meet up for a trial run before your big event, so you get an idea of how she/ he works. 
                      • Arrange the trial on the day you have a function or party to go to, so you can try wearing the makeup and hair for a longer time to check if it holds. 
                      • Be very direct in spelling out what you like and don't like. Tell the MUA about your concerns; nose is too big, the size of your eyes... Communicate!
                      • Keep an open mind and consider the MUA's suggestions.
                      • After the makeup, take photos of yourself in different lighting.
