Bespoke Suit for the Groom - Ah Loke Tailor

$

0
A bespoke suit is supposedly more comfortable and fitting because it is custom-made from the man's measurements to give the best fit, with his selected fabric according to the desired style. Making suits the traditional way can be very labor intensive, the suit is constructed with a layer of horsehair canvas underneath the fabric exterior. It has become a long lost skill as tailors now found speedier methods and substitute materials.

Finding a good bespoke tailor in Malaysia is not easy, referring to the comments I read. So where can you tailor-make your wedding suit? Check out the forumers recommendation, Ah Loke Tailor (ALT). ALT is one of the most decent Malaysian tailor. If you are looking for something better, then travel to Singapore's Iris Tailor, a top tailoring shop in South East Asia. A fused suit at ALT will cost about RM900 if you supply your own cloth. A fully canvassed number will cost an additional RM500. The beginning stage of the suit making requires a few fittings to achieve the best outcome, and after confirming the final measurements, Ah Loke will send the bastings to the coatmaker. It should be completed in about 2-3 weeks time.

ALT makes classy and classic suits and they look absolutely lovely. Ah Loke does a really good job other than some sleeve issues. ALT has the latest H. Lesser Swatch! Not even Ian Chang from Bespoke or the Modern Men of Malaysia from Wardrobe has this.

Harrisons Lesser Swatch

Fabrics from tailors and cloth shops are sometimes questionable in quality and price. Hence people recommended shopping online at eBay (the shops British Fabrics and AKSTextiles) for your cloth. If you are not going to make another suit in a long time, should try to avoid anything too delicate like cashmere but get durable ones like the Harrisons Frontier or Lesser. These English cloths will last you longer and wear cool. Mohair cloth is a good option for our climate because it wears much cooler than wool. Fresco, the name given to a particular type of weave, also wears cool.

Gareth wore only one bespoke suit. Gareth got his suit tailored at a place called Ah Loke Tailor in Kuala Lumpur, recommended by Shah, our amazing blog manager and one of the most stylish men we know. I love Gareth’s suit and his bowtie, so classy and classic :)

Many forumers have used Ah Loke Tailor. The results are mostly underwhelming, but no worse than Bespoked in 1U or Lord’s in Bangsar. At least ALT is cheaper by a quarter, and has a more contemporary cut that yours truly has had a hand in influencing. At ALT, a fused suit will cost RM900 if you supply your own cloth. A fully canvassed number will cost an additional RM500.

Beneath the mess and the deceiving exterior of Ah Loke Tailor, I still find him to be one of the most decent tailor in town. Well, if you want something else, probably you might need to swing by Singapore or push it till Hong Kong. Don’t expect Neapolitan shoulders from Ah Loke but if you know what you want and you’ve done your homework, who knows he might be able to pull that off, but no promises though! :D

There were in total of 2 fittings before Ah Loke confirmed my final measurements and sent the bastings to the coatmaker. About 2 – 3 weeks later, it was finally completed. It looked absolutely lovely and I think Ah Loke did a damn good job. I’m starting to find a harmony with Ah Loke and suffice to say he is actually my tailor of choice! Other than some sleeve issues he’s improve tremendously! Ah Loke, and only his joint has the latest Lesser Swatch!! I don’t think event Ian Chang from Bespoke or the Modern Men of Malaysia from Wardrobe has this!

A few tailors carry the H.Lesser swatch books, one of them being Ah Loke Tailor on Jalan Yap Ah Shak.

"Mr. Loke is very meticulous and was very patient, especially through our incessant questioning. He is a soft-spoken fellow who was never pushy and was not condescending even though it was pretty obvious I have not had many suits tailored in my life. He has an eye for detail. Paid about RM1.5K and the fabric was from Ah Loke. A bit pricey maybe but recommended!"

Femina Bridal was the brain behind the marvelous decorations that captured the Rajesthan life (Rajesthan theme). From an extensive array of color, versatility and creativity, everything was simply brilliant. Femina Bridal transformed Prime City hotel banquet to a Rajesthani palace and garden. Wedding centerpieces, vases, candles, table number place markers and ornaments that dangled from the ceiling enveloped the venue with luxury and grandness. Femina Bridal also ensured the couple looked their best during the wedding day with top-notch make-up and accessories.

A Cinema-and-PoliceThemed Wedding in Muar

Kok Hong and Sze Ye, two police inspectors were united in marriage in a well thought out cinema themed wedding. Their wedding banquet was held at Yong Sheng Banquet Hall Muar. Yong Sheng is actually a famous confectionery manufacturer in Muar. The shop is located on the ground floor where guests to the reception can drop in to look-see and buy some yummy snacks. Above it on the first floor is the banquet hall. The entrance was decorated with movie posters, a theater number, curtain, lights just like how a cinema would look like.

Downstairs is where Yong Sheng Confectionery is. The banquet hall is above it.
You can take the stairs or elevator up
We went to the movies
This movie is "Coming Soon". Nice!
Each table has a label. You need a ticket to get into the movie theater... A nice touch.

The columnless hall is spacious and comfortable. There were moving heads with pattern and color filters projected luminous stars around the hall creating a delightful ambiance. Long photo frames with the couple pre-wedding shots are lined up alongside the red carpet which has been elevated. The couple's march-in was preceded by the parents and then their counterparts from the police force in their ceremonial uniforms, carrying a sword.

The VIP main table
Starry afternoon
The grand entrance
Cake cutting by the police officers. haha.

Yong Sheng Hall does not provide food, so getting an external caterer is necessary. I would say the dishes prepared by the caterer of the day Seng Kee Catering, were between average to below average. The combination platter entree was tasty, I guess it's hard for this first dish to go wrong. Opting for an abalone, dried seafood soup instead of the usual shark fin soup, the second dish was a disappointment in my opinion. The taste did not blend in quite well coming from these expensive ingredients. The beef stew had a strong scent which I disliked (and I usually love beef), is a rare wedding dish, not commonly served in weddings at the Klang Valley. The rest of the food was ok.

Chinese Wedding Door Games

$
0
0
Part of the Chinese wedding ritual includes the groom entourage fetching his bride from her parents home. The bride's maids aka "ji mui" would block the way and present some challenges for the boys before opening the door. No pain no gain! Some games can be crazy, giving the gate crashing groom a super hard time before he can get his wife. SAVE the Groomsmen Facebook page detests silly door games and advocates that they should be stopped. I think the girls should not go overboard, opt for some fun and light-hearted games just to cheer up the event. Also watch the time. Besides having to go through all these tests, the groom has to prepare a red packet (ang pow) for the ji mui team. No money no honey. **Evil laugh**

Pick the ones that you like. Other suggestions are welcome.

      LADY-LIKE
When you ask your boyfriend/ husband does he mind if you go out in sweat pants, t-shirt with no makeup, he would say "It's ok, dress however you feel like honey." But in fact it does actually bother him. Men want their women to look good yet they complain the girls take too much time getting ready. Ladies require more time (sometimes), "Get used to it!". So LESSON 1: Compromise and wait for your wife while she spends a little time trying to look presentable.

To prove his love, dress the groom and his 'heng dai' in bra, knickers, sexy dresses, wigs and stilettos, on top of that put on some striking makeup (hehe) and then sing a song or perform a dance. To get a pair of silky smooth legs for the short dress, they need to be waxed first! Another idea: Let the boys experience how pregnancy feels like by putting a weight wrap around their tummy.

          THE FOUR FLAVORS OF LIFE
Marriage is about going through the good and bad together; sweet happy moments, challenges in life which have to be faced by the couple together and a bit of pleasant surprises from time to time to spice up the relationship. Be creative and whip up some drinks or food that have each flavor. Prepare some water for the "heng dai" just in case the concoction becomes too strong for them.

The sweet, sour, bitter and the spicy
4 "poison" concoctions; honey, lemon juice, bitter herbal tea, spicy drink (wasabi+cili)
"How does it taste like?" Eeeekk...

                  EATING SKILLS
Eat a packet of dry rice crispy in one go.

Tie some bananas to a string. The boys have to peel off the skin using their mouth and eat the banana.

Btw they are not supposed to bite the banana together with the skin. This is a failed attempt!

                      PASSING GAME
Line the boys up, The first guy must pass a piece of seaweed to the next guy with his lips until it reaches the last guy in line. You can also place an orange (or other fruits) under the groomsman's chin. He then passes the fruit to the next guy without using his hands.

Passing seaweed (to test their kissing skill?)

                        FLEXIBILITY TEST
Show some pictures of partner yoga poses and the groomsmen have to follow them.

                        PROFESSION OF LOVE
Ask the groom to prepare a romantic message to his wife-to-be in the form of a poem, love letter, love song, 10 reasons why does he love her, or his promises to her. He will read or sing it to his bride before access is granted.

Adam Studio House was established in 2000. They offer professional photography services for commercial purpose such as product, company profile and advertising as well as wedding day, pre-wedding and portraiture. An apprentice of renown photographer Jen Siow, Adam fell in love with the art of shooting beautiful images and never look back. Through the years he acquired many skills and experiences involving himself in commercial and wedding photography, shot in various events, for fashion magazines like Icon, worked with local and international celebrities such as Amber Chia and Simon Yam.

Adam would shoot again and again until the desired outcome is achieved. His idealistic approach to  photography draws him away from being a businessman with a fixated set of ideas to generate the most profit in the shortest time. In 2004 and 2006, he organized wedding on board a plane to Thailand and Hong Kong respectively. The couples were selected through a series of interviews to have their dream wedding in a plane which would not have happen if it weren't for this event. His negotiation with the Hong Kong airline partner Cathay Pacific was not smooth sailing at all but he and his team made it through. This mega event which barely generated any profit for him was completed with a big smile on all the couples' faces. The experience is all that matters. The Malaysia Book of Records marked and featured the unique "wedding in plane" celebration in 2006.

Striving to be innovative, Adam is always looking for new inspirations. For him each experience is a learning step. He appreciates the beauty in things and people and it shows in his  photos which connect to people, they captivate their senses. He loves capturing the emotional moments and important details of weddings.

As you may know, as an art enthusiastic, i love photography apart frm wedding photographs. As fashion/ studio shots is a totally different ball game then the moment shots which i normally come across. I must say Adam, though someone i have never worked with him before and this the first time, his photos really captivates my senses and is someone with a good eye=)

Who could capture a more gorgeous image of you than someone who is so experienced in photo-shooting beautiful people, models, beauty pageant contestants and artists? Wedding photography is most of the time about the shooting style. If you like a value-for-money package with photos that touch your heart, give Adam a call to discuss further.

More couples are adopting the "Simple and Nice" concept for their wedding decorations. Sometimes complicated designs may come off as too messy. Wordings for the backdrop for example can be arranged in more unconventional ways using earthy color tones for a rustic or natural feel. Use 3-D letters or artwork to make the words/ graphics stand out. There are many different styles to use them creatively. You may borrow some ideas here:

                        H&W Studio offers two things.
                        (1) Customization: There are a lot of ready-made decoration materials available in the market, however, they might not suit everyone's needs. H&W is ready to help you out, make whatever fonts or artwork in polyfoam (or EPS Foam) according to your requests.
                        (2) Convenience: The fabrication of polyfoam can be done by most people at home, but inconveniently (it's so much hassle and time consuming!). H&W offers you the convenience. They "SPEAK" your words, bringing out the message for you.

Just imagine you could design something on your computer for example the initials of you and your fiancee(e) in special font, characters in other languages, patterns, wedding logo, theme details, special message to your better half, the list goes on. Send the request to H&W Studio, and voilà! you get the 3-D version in polyfoam. This is particularly helpful for (or partial) DIY decoration. You bring in your idea and sketch the layout then let the expert with proper equipments do the difficult part.

Here are some samples, but don't let your creativity stop there.

                        Wordings in any languages
You can use their templates or your own design

Make sure you measure the area at the wedding venue where the artwork is going to be hung. You don't want the wordings to go out of proportion. Get the right measurement and you can start discussing about the details.

Positive feedback: SA was very helpful during gown selection, assisted in finding the suitable gowns. Satisfied with the MUA and PG, went with their professional ideas. The PG and MUA worked hard continuously even though it was raining when shooting outdoor. Photographer Mr Chin and assistant were very patient, dedicated and funny. MUA was punctual. No rushing or pushing from the SA to buy more photos during photo selection. Experience with this bridal shop has been good, got a good package deal from the wedding fair.

Negative feedback: Gown selection is limited, especially outdoor evening gown. Took 5 hours just to choose 4 gowns. The shop did not call to confirm the appointments, the client had to call the day before to confirm. Improvement needed in this area. Shooting appointment was delayed twice. The hair became so hard after layers of hair spray, combing and hair style changing were painful.

                        KNOT Concept
Precious Bridal's KNOT concept photography is based on a special theme or a story that represents the couple. Was there a scene in the movie that you've watched which you wished you were in it? Or there's something that you always wanted to do but have not got the chance to do it yet? Bridal Gallery of Ever After here, EA has changed to Precious end of 2009. I have signed up pre-wedding package with them, just choose the photos and waiting to see the design. So far, my experience is good.
                        My experience:
1.I am happy with the package I get, RM2988 + RM500 voucher + PM session AD photographer, got it in the fair :)
2.The gown not much choices, especially the outdoor night gown. You can upgrade the gown. But the BA helped me a lot in finding the gown that suit me, I took 5 hours just to choose 4 gowns ;p
3.The gowns do not fit me at all during the PS, luckily the aunty manage to fix it immediately before the PS.
                        4. I am satisfied with the MUA and photographer, totally leave to their professional as I am not good in these, so I just follow whatever idea they gave ;p
5.It was raining on my outdoor shooting, but the MUA and photographer worked hard to take the photos in the rain.
6.Photo select session, we are allowed to select all the photo on our own, they not rush us or persuade us to take more photos.
7.They never call to confirm on the appointments, I myself will call them up the day before to confirm it. This is the part that I think they have to improve to serve better.

We have made the complete payment during the photo selection session, hope that the service still good after this. As I read comment the service before and after will be different.

We opted for a rather economical package for our pre-wedding photo shoot. Actually, our appointment for shooting was delayed twice, firstly few dresses were unavailable and the second time was our photographer need to go overseas. Finally, it all happened on 6th August 2012 (Monday).  Our bridal studio is PRECIOUS, SS2. The make up artist was punctual. Make up took bout an hour plus and we had our first shot outdoor in Titiwangsa. Mr Chin is our photographer. Very patient and funny guy. So is his assistant. Both of them were so dedicated. Wiped endless sweat off my fiancé like a million times. Take care of your personal belongings. Guide you into every pose. Seriously, their job aren't easy.. Changing dress was quite easy but changing hair style was HELL. Imagine your hair had been sprayed with hair spray and applied multiple layer of foam. Hard as rock and they just combed through…Second time was ok, however, as I changed another 3 hairstyles, I felt my scalp was going to peel off. So painful

For bridal services such as makeup & styling, gown, pelamin, decoration, canopy, catering, etc in Taiping Perak, look for Akma Sri Andaman.

The makeup done by Kak Akma was good. The bride received lots of positive comments. Looking gorgeous is every bride's right, so make sure you go for the makeup artist who knows how to glam you up beautifully. The makeup also lasted the entire wedding day thanks to the special finishing protector she sprayed on the face. Unfortunately the gown that the bride picked could not be used at the last moment because it was torn by the previous bride who wore it and she had to select another one. Imagine how panicked she would be! Shouldn't the gown be returned earlier for cleaning?

With her brush, pencil, Kak Akma meticulously put on the makeup on the bride
                        Makeup done by Akma
The bride liked the pelamin very much
The gown which was picked in the last minute was a tad too big and long.

The dais or pelamin after being decorated with fresh flowers, looked classy and absolutely incredible. The bride let her Mak Andam, Akma Sri Andaman take full responsibility of decorating the pelamin and they did not disappoint. Though it comes with an expensive price tag, the result was excellent.

All done with the beautiful fresh flowers

Untuk bertunang ni hani ambil pakej make up+pelamin+baju dengan Akma Sri Andaman di Taiping. Tentang make up, ramai yg kata ok...cantik...ye ker??? hani mmg request kak akma  yg make up kan hani, xnak pembantu dia...yang hani perasan lepas siap make up, kak akma akan sembur sesuatu mcm spray la, tp xtau nama apa..lupa nak tanya..make up akan tahan lama...xcair lansung walaupn dah penat berposing gambar outdoor..btul la, smpai ke mlm.

Pada asalnya hani dah pilih baju ni...tp last minit terpaksa cancel baju ni terkoyak sikit sebab ada pengantin pakai sebelum hani tu dah terpijak kainnya...hukhuk frustnyer !!! so, Kak Akma akan bawa baju yang lain...serius masa tu rasa risau jugak.

Pelamin juga dari Akma Sri Andaman...yg best semua tu bunga2 segar tau !!! hani sgt2 suka.

10 Elements of Great Wedding Photos

                        $
                        0
                        0
If you ask a photographer what makes a great photo, he/ she might suggest an image that has great composition (rule of thirds, symmetry, framing), captures emotion, unique, leaves something to the imagination, captures detail, has nice perspectives, etc. would look good. However to a non-technical person the photo must be attractive and captures the essence of the wedding. I think great wedding images should contain these elements illustrated by photos taken from WLoon Photography.

                        1. The expression of the couple being in love. When in love, they look a each other with passion something one cannot pretend. It's more natural if the shot is taken when the bride and groom-to-be do not pose or fake a smile but just enjoy the moment. These photos can help rekindle the romance many years down the road.

                        2. That special moment. When the moment passes by it's gone forever hence the photographer has to shoot at the right time. Wooi Loon is able to photograph a scene that tells a story beautifully. It takes lots of experience, photography and observation skills to achieve the photo-journalistic outcome on a hectic wedding day when so much is happening simultaneously.

The bouquet is up in the air waiting to be caught. The bride watches who is the lucky gal.
The bride smiles as her groom gets busy with the mini helicopter holding the wedding rings :)

                        3. Uniqueness. From unique lighting to artistic framing, there are many ways to create an interesting image. The pale color, subtle and artistic effects of the following picture turns the normally mundane face-to-face shot into an amazing and original scene.

                        4. The environment such as a lovely venue, beautiful structures, the nature, perspectives in good composition. Wooi Loon would go on-site to feel the location and get inspired before the shooting.

Wooi Loon captures a lovely perspective of the arches

                        5. Creativity always adds a special touch to the photo. Photographer who thinks outside the box can produce far greater images. Getting married should be fun so be creative and bring in the humor, wittiness, playfulness...

This adds so much extra fun to the wedding photograph
                        Very witty "Trash-the-dress" shot

                        6. Portraiture has been an important part of wedding photography. The stunning bride wants her painstakingly done makeup and hair to be shown in the wedding photos. And it's also the perfect time to take a family portrait by a professional photographer. Wooi Loon makes sure that the portraits of the groom, bride, family, friends and groups are taken beautifully.

                        7. Detail. The details such as of the wedding rings, shoes or decorations are sometimes overlooked as everyone is preoccupied with interactions and activities on the busy day. This wedding bands close-up shot by Wooi Loon creates an attractive scene capturing the detail of the rings with bubbles at the background.

                        8. Unique color and lighting.

Juxtaposition contrasting colors of the bright umbrella and the dark background. What a pretty sight.

                        9. People's Emotions. Wedding is the time when a lot of people gets emotional - how happy are the bride and groom the second they're announced husband and wife, the excitement of family and friends witnessing the couple walk down the aisle, and the "wicked" look on the bridesmaids' faces getting ready for the door games, etc.

                        10. Photo that looks good. Period.

A nice and stylish photo for your wedding album

Not only does he capture accurate and high quality photos, Wooi Loon is also someone who is professional and patient. I am sure you wouldn't find so many positive comments about an irresponsible or even a mediocre photographer. From the feedback I got on my website, I am more convinced about the importance of a photographer with integrity, what's more a talented one.

Take a lift up to the rooftop garden at level 8 of Lot 10, there is the Teeq Brasserie (at the Forest in the City). This chic restaurant is designed with woody textures and earthy tones with an avant garde interior decoration. While this place offers a great ambiance for an intimate wedding reception, your guests can also enjoy a grand view of KLs skyline through the all-glass facade. The beautiful landscape of cascading ferns and greenery outside the brasserie is such amazing spot for photography.

Instead of the usual table-of-10 kind of reception, modern couples are opting for different, more "western" and intimate style weddings. The tables and chairs are not of the same shapes and sizes, guests can walk, mingle around especially when there are entertainment activities arranged by the hosts. Discuss your wedding menu with their Head Chef Vivian for a delectable Western fare.

This is the first time we are featuring a wedding reception held in Teeq Brasserie at Lot 10, Kuala Lumpur. It is nice to see that increasingly more couples are opting to celebrate their weddings in more "unconventional" venues. Mike and Stephenie did not plan a traditional Chinese wedding, which meant no huge Chinese restaurants and hotel ballrooms. And so they found Teeq -- a chic, rooftop venue, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with amazing views of the city's skyline. Teeq is an architecturally and visually appealing venue, with woody textures and earthy tones. The interior decor, dominated by glass, stripes and deep plum furniture, was perfect for simple and elegant arrangements that were yet stunning enough to hold their own. There were two types of seating options at Teeq -- at the regular dining tables, and at the semi-circular booth tables.

Amidst a picturesque kampung (Dusun Tua) view, the Sangkot Villa which is located in Hulu Langat, Selangor is a venue perfect for alfresco weddings, and functions. It's a place people who like the serenity of nature would fall in love with. Outdoor wedding problems like the weather, mosquitoes, etc. and parking inconveniences aside, Sangkot's good food, scenic and romantic garden setting are the major attractions that draw in many brides and grooms-to-be.

Last Sunday sempat jugak attend wedding my ofismate, Syafinaz di Hulu Langat. Majlis wedding telah diadakan di sebuah tempat bernama Sangkot, The Garden Wedding Place. Actually nie first time dengar nama dan sampai di Sangkot nie. Sangat unik dan lain nama sangkut tu. Sangkot nie located front of IKBN Dusun Tua. Dah dekat kalau ada yang berhajat nak ke Sungai Congkak. Time nie memang panas yang amat, tuhan saja yang tahu. Lepas tu orang yang datang serang 'Sangkot' ramai plak, no parking space, so kena menapak jauh skit untuk sampai sini.

Nice place for garden/ outdoor intimate wedding. Good food and view.

Create your own fairy tale wedding at SANGKOT. Love the dangling ceremony flowers (photo below) which made the entire atmosphere so fresh and lovely. In term of ambiance nothing beats outdoor wedding. The clouds, blue sky, smell of flowers, trees, plants and natural brightness... just awesome.

Organizing special activities for the wedding reception can be exhausting. One interesting way to entertain your guests without too much effort from your side is to hire an experienced emcee to cheer up the evening. I came across a talented master of ceremony on my cousin's wedding at the Grand Imperial restaurant located at Bangsar Shopping Centre. Desmond Ting has been mentioned by a few other brides/ grooms who had him emceed their wedding functions. I personally think he is hilarious, spontaneous and a great entertainer. Language wise he could speak in a few Chinese dialects Cantonese, Mandarin, Hokkien fluently. His spoken English comes with a "fanciful" Chinese accent which reminds me of the character Barbarella on The Noose :) I would highly recommend Desmond if most of your guests could understand Chinese.

Unfortunately I didn't manage to capture a good angle and more interesting snapshots. Here's a short clip of Desmond emceeing.

One of the programs of the night include a game that involved everyone in the audience. Each table was given a task to collect a few items such as a Samsung handphone, a driver's license, a man's belt, a high heel shoe... and has to bring the collectibles to the stage by a male and a female. The four pairs who got to the stage first would get an ang pow (red packet) from the bride & groom. They then had to perform a dance with the accompanied music of cha-cha, twist, etc. The loudness of the audience applause would determine who wins the grand prize. It was quite a fun arrangement where everyone had a good laugh. The way Desmond interacted with people was effortless, he managed to set off their sporting self when he asked them questions. His choice of words was witty and most of the time comical. He spoke in Cantonese that night.

Desmond recited some well wishes verses in a poetic way to the couple. He also wished them the best of  health, love, abundance, fertility... all the words that must be uttered on a Chinese wedding.

Desmond Ting may not have the online presence of William Lee, but he is no where below William in terms of his experience and professionalism. He speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Hokkien. Highly recommended to those with guests from a variety of background. If anything, Desmond was much more responsive when it comes to attending to inquiries from prospective clients like me. He does put in efforts to contact the prospective clients in between his busy schedules. He also provides banquet coordination services so that the couple can be relieved of their wedding planning duties for the night. Do take note that he is on the flamboyant side.

                        1. Compare the work of a few photographers; scrutinize their photography style and technique if it suits your personality - A fun person would prefer more light-hearted sometimes funky, not too dramatic shots and vise versa. For instance, Hong (Fabulous Moments) takes the time to understand the couple: how they met, how they fell in love and from there plan shots that will capture the emotions unique to the couple themselves. The mood created by the photographer directly influences the overall outcome. A single template for all - bridal shop concept does not work anymore. When couples are pushed to pose, dress-up and act in an uncomfortable manner, wedding photography tragedy happens.

                        2. Background Check. Look for the selected photographers' reviews and try to find one who possesses a good reputation and work ethics... at least without tons of complaints. I believe it's normal for any photographers to receive positive and negative reviews at any point, but when the negative remarks get out of hand, it is a red flag. Also, is the photographer qualified, certified, experienced, awarded? Here's some research about Fabulous Moments - Hong Photography.

Hong is now a qualified licentiate of Wedding & Portrait Photographers of Asia (WPPA). His clients enjoyed the wonderful photoshoot he conducted. He is highly recommended because he produced fabulous photos.

                        3. Get photo samples of the wedding photographer's work - the entire wedding day or pre-wedding album for instance. Usually what published on their website gallery is the best of the best collection; you have to see more photos from the same photo-shoot to make sure there is consistency. Facebook album is a good start. Hong managed to compose most of the photos wonderfully with his remarkable attention and skill.

You can plan a Destination Pre-wedding to a location with a significant scenery you always wanted as the photo backdrop, arrange a date with the makeup artist and photographer. Thanks to Waze GPS navigation we managed to escape the jam en route to the mall at Bangsar. Parking in Bangsar Shopping Centre is ok but the entrance to the mall is rather inconvenient as there's always lots of people waiting for the lift during peak hours (on a Saturday!), escalators are scarce. We ended up taking the stairs instead.

Went up to the 3rd floor and there was the Grand Imperial restaurant tucked in one corner. The guests reception area is in front at the entrance of the restaurant at one side while the wedding dinner is at the back of the restaurant and you will walk pass the walk-in patron tables to get there. The banquet hall is very very cozy with great ambiance, glittering chandeliers, comfortable lighting, new and comprehensive table setting.

                        nice table cloth hot towels!

Well the hall is great, lighting all good, well decorated stage but too bad the few pillars in it would block the view of some guests. Our table was directly beside the stage and I could not see anything projected on the screen. I think it needs a bit of re-organizing and arranging the front tables further away from the stage.

Many commented that the food here is awesome. To me the wedding food at the Grand Imperial BSC was OK to good. I loved the four season combination platter - the varieties are somewhat refreshing. the roasted village chicken is strangely not tough and quite tender. Love the rich taste of the well seasoned meat. The fish steamed with ginger and preserved vege was a good match and very yummy. The tiger prawn and noodle dishes were normal.

The shark fin soup was quite bland, the shredded chicken and bamboo pith were chewy with not much flavor. Did not like the loh hon cai (vegetarian dish) which was not braised well, the ingredients have not fused into the broth.

It was a fun night being entertained by wedding emcee Desmond Ting who stole the show with his jokes and the guests broke up laughing. He was very spontaneous.

My best mate had his wedding dinner at Grand Imperial a couple months back. It was a rainy Friday night and the traffic and the rain resulted in SO many people being late. Even worse was that some of the latecomers couldn't find any parking in BSC and decided to leave. And there are a lot of thick pillars so quite a few guests couldn't see anything happening on stage. Food wasn't that good either, but then again that does tend to happen to all restaurants where the logistics of having to cook for hundreds of people at once does affect the taste/quality somewhat.

Was attended by an arrogant manager too. Once she heard that I only wanted 20 tables, her face change and when I told her I'm interested in the cheapest menu for now. There are many many pillars there...so the view is pretty bad. I dont like that place. Parking also a nightmare. Anyway, the place looks nice IF you can get the whole restaurant. If not, they will put up a partition. Your guests will be at the back of the restaurant and walk-in customers will be at the front. Your reception will be at the front. So it's kind of weird that your guests will then need to use a side door (a small corridor) to go into your venue. The stage is too small.

Going on an adventure with your beloved is always a great experience and the beautiful journey has to be captured, even better by a professional. Seeing an exceptionally breathtaking scenery for the first time, enjoying the different weather and food unlike what you get back home... all these are precious memories which are part of the couple's life journey. H+ Photography takes advantage of this special experience in a unique destination, when they are holidaying, happy, relaxed to seize these memories and store them in pictures.

                        Holistic Photography
I think a holistic photograph composes the objects that form the photo to transmit an idea or feeling with the correct lighting and timing and ensures that it is pleasing to the eyes as a whole. And this is what you want for your pre-wedding collection.

                        good composition , special effect

                        Being flirtatious in Taiwan

                        Hot bride and groom
The photographer cannot turn you into a super model. However a good photographer will guide you to be at ease and confident with yourself. You will be surprised how HOT you look with an elevated self-esteem. Besides that H+'s Hayashi is well equipped with the technique to shoot at an attractive angle or condition.

                        Hayashi Lim - H+ Photography
Hayashi's work attracts "stalkers" who wouldn't miss any new photos he put up on his website. You can just view his portfolio and fall in love with the collection immediately. There's a difference between someone who photographs with the heart and someone who doesn't - hence the beautiful shots.

i'm gonna write this post and share with y'all one of my fav photog. you can easily view Hayashi Lim's photography H+ Photography website. Did some portraits with him last few weeks. Seriously, I always love his awesome skills. H+ Photography is ze best choice for those who planning to get marry and wanted to snap a series of lovable pre-wedding photos, because to me I prefer a freelancer work than typical bridal house piece. It's too boring to stay in the studio and posing those silly pose that creates awkward feel in between LOL *no offence*. More, working with a freelancer like Hayashi is much fun and interesting!!

Posh Wedding has a team of very talented photography and makeup team. Photographer, Sky Sun in particular is very friendly, funny, helpful, professional and has been described as top notch. The team puts their customer first and ensures that they have a great photo-shooting experience. One of the couples got a free gown upgrade from SA Qiqi who provided good customer service. Elaine on the other hand did not perform as well. Generally they are not pushy and will help you to select the best photos instead. Make-up artist, Alice and SA Alicia are good.

What's bothering some customers are the manager/ SA named Tommy who appeared to be rather impolite when dealing with the couples. Someone said he left Posh Wedding. You can choose all the gowns in the shop except the custom-made ones, if they tell you, you are free to pick any gown, check first. The gowns included in the package might not be as good quality as you expect. If you don't like too much of photo-editing, do let them know.

Hey Le Ann, so far I am satisfied with their service. my PG was Sky, he's a very friendly and funny guy. Helped us a lot on the shooting day. Very professional.
When it comes to wedding gowns, we do not need to nego for upgrade because we can choose all the gowns in the shop except those custom made ones. But i did not take their advice on which gown to choose, cuz they seemed to promote their old gowns more! >.< but they didn't force me to take their old gowns when i decided on their newer gowns.
During the time we picked our photo, they didn't push us to add photo at all! I am very surprised by this, as most of the bridal shop would push and do hard sells during that time. When we mentioned that we do not want to add anymore photos to the album, the person-in-charge did her best to help us to choose the best pictures!!! =)
However, it took us 2 months to see our picture designs... which I find a long time to wait!
Overall, it had been quite good with POSH. Although they have their flaws. Oh ya, if you are particular about photos, you might not want to come here. My photos are very standard, nothing special.
BTW, My package is about 4K. Hope this review helps!

                        Mar 2011 - Jan 2013 (combined comments)
POSITIVE COMMENTS: i engaged them for my pre-wedding last year: Their teams were superb. Sky the photographer, together with his assistant were very good - we started shooting from 12pm till 11pm and all they had is a doughnut and a drink. I'm happy with the photographs which is great even without touch up. But just be careful with the person who did the touch up as they were outsourced by the company and they went way overboard with the touch up. The consultant, Qiqi, was also very nice and gave me free upgrades of my AD gowns. I do agree though that there was one guy who was very pushy. But we don't deal with him most of the time, so it was ok.
                        Here's my package 3388 (Mar 2011):
                        5 gowns for photoshoot
                        2 gowns for AD
                        20 pages big album
                        1 big photo frame
                        2 smaller photo frame 9about A4 size
                        100 jimui pics
                        100 softcopy
                        1 slideshow DVD
                        1 signature book
But I did top up RM299 as entrance fee to take the airplane shots. We also top up about RM600 for new tailormade coat and pants for my husband. The coat need to be returned but he can keep the pants.
The photographer was top notch, SKY - Malaysia photographer. but its just such a waste such good photographer / make up artist and his camera assistant is working with a company with such bad management.
i get my pre wedding with POSH also.. i was satisfied with the service when i took pictures in taiwan, the photographer named jeremy huang. He is outsource photographer by POSH kl. He and his team very nice and helpful :) But i dont like the services provided by KL POSH. They have no patient and not helpful.
My photographer is 恭鉻. He is a very nice guy.

NEGATIVE COMMENTS: manager, Tommy love simply increase d price n shouting behind you like a gangster, luckily I still not pay d deposit,I really remember d way he approach me n talk to me,really harassing me,at d end just walk out,and wanna know more about their gimmick, just email me youyou_is_me@hotmail.com, like what kind of paper they are using ....and more and more, their clothing, gown...don't trust their album...just email me. Watch out for this guy name Tommy and his wife Pei Yee or something.

after we sign the package and paid the deposit, everything that they promised has changed. When we went to their bs for gown choosing, many of the nicer gowns need to add money. They do not honour their words. They say that they do not have category for the gowns, but some of the gowns need to add money. All their gowns that is included in the package is not nice and outdated! The nicer gowns need to add additional cost but it is not worth it as their package is not cheap and even if you add the cost, the gowns are not as nice as other bs! We have met few staff which are nice and polite at first but most of them are resigning. One of the staff name Elaine is bad service.

Traditional wedding make up emphasizes on prominence; thick brows and eye-lining, blood red lips, rosy cheek and so on. Too much is not necessary good here. Instead a simple and fresh style would look more appealing.

Munie Ahmad is an expert in natural looking bridal makeup. Talented, nice, very good in public relations, working and communicating with Munie is a breeze. You just have to keep her updated about your preferred look, or the wedding theme, she will come equipped with all the necessaries such as complementing accessories. It gives you the peace of mind to have such a neat and organized person as the MUA on that special day.
